Ok, I am not here to post something rude or something that will degrade Pringles and their manufacturer. I am just citing a Court Case against them by the British government regarding taxes on potatoes.
In order to escape huge tax collections for potato products, lawyers of Procter & Gamble, the main company of Pringles products, maintained that their Pringles are NOT potato products – amounting only to 42% potato and accounting also on the fact that its shape is not of that an ordinary potato.
Whoa? Really? so what’s the other 58% of Pringles made of then!?
According to this article, the rest of the 58% contains other ingredients like dextrose, maltodextrin, and wheat starch.
Well, ok. Taking a “not-shaped-like-a-potato” stand is acceptable, but openly admitting that your products are not purely potatoes? It’s like their committing suicide on their very own products.
There haven’t been any news regarding deaths from eating Pringles (as far as I am concerned), but taking into account that I am eating some potato chips that are, well, aren’t potato chips at all is quite, umm, disturbing.
Anyway, it still tastes good doesn’t it? I bet I’ll get myself a Pringles now to satisfy my cravings. haha
By the way, they have a recent Pringles commercial, it’s actually kind of funny!
