We are living in a very small world today, thanks to technology, and more specifically, the internet.
Social sites like Facebook, is a very good tool for communicating with other people. On the contrary, Facebook can also get you in trouble, like this kid who got expelled because of his Facebook status.
What is this Facebook status that got this student expelled from his school?
According to this website, (http://articles.orlandosentinel.com/2010-03-23/news/os-facebook-death-threat-032310-20100323_1_alternative-school-facebook-brevard-student), the student, who studies in Edgewood Juniors/ Senior High, wrote on his Facebook page about killing or getting his English teacher, Kathy Bowen, fired because he didn’t want Bowen to return from her medical leave.
Friends of the that student said that he was the graduating seniors’ “best humor”, and stated that he was kidding around when he posted that Facebook status.
Although it was meant as a joke, Bowen, was worried about her safety.
Because of this, the student is serving suspension from his school and was not allowed to attend his senior prom and his class’ graduation ceremony, although he can still get his highschool diploma.
His expulsion is yet to happen until the Brevard County school Board in Florida approves it.
So as a lesson, be careful when you post something in your facebook accounts – it may be a joke on your part, but others might not take it lightly.
