Tiger Woods and his new silent Nike Commercial.

tiger woods nike commercial|Earl and TigerAs you may all know, Tiger Woods recently got into an infidelity scandal that made global news. Tiger Woods, on top of his career as a professional golfer, suddenly became a “news star” due to his infidelity scandal.

Tiger Woods is considered as one of the most marketable athlete out there – which is pretty obvious with numerous endorsements he has done with companies.

But due to his recent scandal, Tiger Woods’ endorsements will surely be affected, or is it? Well, not with Nike.

Despite of the scandals, Nike remained at Tiger’s side. Nike had this to say about their endorsement through Tiger;

“We support Tiger and his family. As he returns to competitive golf, the ad addresses his time away from the game using the powerful words of his father.”

Compared to his previous flashy commercials, Tiger Woods’ new Nike commercial, entitled “Earl and Tiger”, is rather, well, solemn.

In the commercial, you will see a silent Woods, looking at the camera. The video is devoid of colors – contributing to the “solemnity” of the commercial.

In the video, Woods is staring at the camera with a sad emotion - and at the background is the voice of Earl Woods (who died on 2006), Tiger’s father. Earl stated this in the commercial, as if talking to Tiger himself;

“Tiger, I am more prone to be inquisitive to promote discussion. I want to find out what your thinking was. I want to find out what your feelings are. And did you learn anything?”

Looking at the totality of the video, it feels like Earl is talking one on one with his son, Tiger. Earl’s last statement really struck it to the point, ” did you learn anything?”.
