knknews.com – a scam site?

Knknews.com is trending itself toward the top keywords searched on Google today. What is knknews.com anyways?

I visited the site and what it showed me is kind of, well, confusing. When you visit knknews.com, you are directed to a website with cnbc.com as its web template.

But wait a minute, didn’t I just typed in knknews.com in my web address? Why am I seeing cnbc.com here?

OK. I’ll shrug that off for a while. I read a couple of articles on the knknews.com homepage, and apparently, the site is about making money at home. One of its main article is about Patricia Feeney and her success in making money online at home. Well that is technically not impossible. But there is something in the article that really made me conclude that this knknews.com website is a scam site.

In the video about Patricia Feeney (which you can watch at knknews.com website itself), Patricia Feeney works for NBC10 (in Philadelphia, if my Google searching skills is correct) as a producer. And as far as I am concerned, NBC10 is a network NOT located in Cavite (which is in the Philippines by the way). Now, how can a FOREIGNER live in the Philippines and simultaneously worked in NBC10 as a producer? Yup, there is really something wrong here.

Reading through the article, it gives you tips on how to “make money online” similarly as Patricia did – by signing for an account in Google Pay Day.

Now what is Google Pay Day? According to this article (http://www.reviewopedia.com/google-pay-day.htm);

Google Pay Day is currently being advertised on many websites and classifieds as a great training program for learning how to make money with Google. The advertisement makes a lot of amazing claims about how much you can make from Google AdWords and AdSense.
The advertisement for Google Pay Day encourages you to sign up for a free trial of their money making software. They neglect to tell you the full price of the software which is detailed in their terms and conditions.

If you sign up for the $1.95 trial you will receive their program for a fourteen day trial period. From past experiences I know that the trial usually starts from the day you request your package and not from the day you receive it, so keep that in mind when keeping track of your days.

If you do not cancel within that time frame Google Pay Day will proceed to bill your credit card to the tune of $39.85 per month for web hosting and an additional one time fee of $129.85. The web hosting charge is fairly outrageous since you can by a domain name for 8-10 bucks and get yearly hosting for less than a hundred dollars. With them you would be paying over $450 for the year.

Unfortunately, they do not provide a cancelation phone number on their website, they only say that it’s located in your confirmation email. If you need to cancel look for that email in your inbox. Also they reveal that Google Pay Day is not a US based company, they list their address at:

JRS MEDIA SOLUTIONS, 22nd Floor Raffles Corporate Center Emerald Avenue, Ortigas Center Pasig City, Philippines.

This is another enormous red flag warning you not to do business with this company.

knknews.com

AHA! Now I know why they put “Cavite” in the article in the first place. :D (But maybe this is also a web script that posts random addresses/ places depending on the website visitor’s location – through the visitor’s I.P. address I guess).

Definitely, based on these observations, knknews.com is a scam site. Maliciously misrepresenting a reputable website (cnbc.com) is reason enough that this knknews.com is up to something bad.It just makes me sad that this scam site is based here in the Philippines. This is the reason why a lot of foreign companies feel a little “unsecured” when doing business here in the country.

There you go, now you have been informed. :D
