Everybody was expecting it to be long and grueling battle between the Green and the Purple-Yellow. The Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers battled out in the court to find out who is the rightful owner for the NBA 2010 Champion trophy. The NBA 2010 Finals ended with Game 7 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles having the Los Angeles Lakers winning the game, 83-79 in favor of the Los Angeles based team.
The first part of the game however did not reflect the fact that L.A. would win Game 7. Right off the first half, the Boston Celtics were leading at 40-34 score. This was good news for the Celtics – giving ground to the fact that the Celtics have not lost to a Game 7 in its franchise’s history.
However, at the second half of the game, things turned around for the Celtics.

The Lakers came alive with Pau Gasol and Ron Artest filling up the gaps. According to Artest in his interview after the Game;
“I had 20 points, and I still think we did this as a team,” Artest said. “We fought together. This was one of the best games in, I don’t even know, man. I don’t want to be in a game like this, where the game can go either way. … I’m just like, OK, what did I get myself into?” (Yahoo.com)
After the game, The Celtics team were all in tears in their locker room. And who wouldn’t be? This could be one of the most grueling season they ever have gone through. And to play the championship game in your enemy’s home court? That is too much pressure.
According to Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers;
“There’s a lot of crying in that locker room,” Rivers said. “A lot of people who care. I don’t think there was a dry eye. A lot of hugs, a lot of people feeling awful. That’s a good thing. Showed a lot of people cared.”
The Celtics had never lost a seventh game in the finals. Despite nursing a lead through most of the night while holding the Lakers to ridiculously low shooting percentages until the final minutes, Boston couldn’t close it out on the coast, becoming just the seventh team to blow a 3-2 finals lead after winning Game 5.
For all L.A. Lakers fans out there, well this is the time to celebrate.
Congratulations Los Angeles Lakers for winning the NBA 2010 Season Championship!
