What is that wuauclt.exe in your Windows system?

If ywuauclt.exeou’ve been working with your computer for too long (around 15 hours or more in front of the computer), maybe you’ll get acquainted with numerous jargons relating to computers. Definitely, you’ll know what a wuauclt.exe is.

Errr…personally, I don’t even know what a wuauclt.exe is (or does :D ). From the syntax of wuauclt.exe itself, it seems like it’s an executable file, but what program does it execute?

A lot of people have been searching about this wuauclt.exe in the internet to know what this file do, and here’s what I found.

wuauclt.exe is apparently a Windows background application. wuauclt.exe is part of Windows Auto Update and checks the Microsoft website for any potential Windows update or hardware update.

So from that statement alone, wuauclt.exe therefore is a legitimate Windows background application. You can easily delete the wuauclt.exe process by;

1. press Ctrl+Alt+Del keys in your keyboard to bring out the Windows Task Manager.

2. Search for the wuauclt.exe entry in the list, click it, and then click “End Process” below.

There you go! It’s done. You can delete this wuauclt.exe process if you don’t need to automatically update your Windows operating system. Actually, you can update your Windows manually, so you really don’t need this wuauclt.exe process.

However, some malicious scripts have been associated with wuauclt.exe. You’ll know that your wuauclt.exe is not a legitimate Windows process if wuauclt.exe is not located in your System32 folder. If its not in your System32 folder, then there is a big chance that the you have is a malicious file. Better fire-up your Anti-virus! :D

    WUAUCLT.EXE, is often misread as WUAUDT.EXE due to the smushing and blurring of letters for those who use microsoft’s smooth-font utility. Visually, there is no way to tell the difference, even after capturing the screen as an image file and magnifying the letters of the word!

    WUAUCLT.EXE will reactivate itself after deletion from task manager.

    It is necessary to delete WUAUCLT.EXE 3 times in task manager to prevent it from reactivating … until the next startup.

    On my system, WUAUCLT.EXE uses huge huge amount of resources and takes 10 to 15 minutes to complete. The program starts when windows explorer is started, after booting up the computer. Practically speaking, nothing else can be done during the time WUAUCLT.EXE is hogging al the CPU resources.

    Microsoft programmers are really stupid dumb asses for creating WUAUCLT.EXE to be such a time-intensive CPU hog and for not allowing any easy control over its actions.
