“Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country“.
This is the famous line that is affiliated with President John F. Kennedy, the 35th president of the United States of America.
Today, January 20, 2011, marks the 5oth anniversary of JFK’s inauguration. His inaugural speech is considered as one of the finest speeches that is still being referred to even to this day. A number of lines in that speech have been copied and made cliche’s by people today. And its just fitting because almost all these “cliche lines” are still applicable today.
And definitely, his line “Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country” is definitely fitting at times like this, where we experience economic and political instability here in the Philippines – we must not blame the government for all its shortcomings, but instead, let us contribute our efforts for the betterment of our country. If we really want to move forward, we must do it first within ourselves.
