2012 Olympics Logo – Looks Racist to Muslims?

The new 2012 Olympics Logo is receiving flak from people and critics regarding its bulky and seemingly uninspired design. Curiously, the said logo is also receiving negative criticisms from the Muslim world, more specifically, Iran.

So what’s so racist with a bunch of irregular pentagons crumpled together you asked?

According to Bahram Afsharzadeh, the secretary-general of Iran’s National Olympic Committee, the logo looks and reads like “zion” if you read the logo vertically. “Zion” is the biblical term for Jerusalem, and of course, we all know that Iran is not in good terms with Israel.

Well, personally, I do think that the logo deserves to receive such criticism not because its racist, but because it lacks that certain “wow!” factor – it looks like a bunched up Lego blocks if you ask me.
