Google Doodle for Charlie Chaplin’s 122nd Birthday.

If you checked the Google website today you’ll probably see something odd on its logo; yes, it’s not sporting its usual rainbow-colored Google logo. Rather, it shows a Youtube video picture showing a person holding a newspaper having a large “Google” headline printed on top of it.

Try clicking it. :)

Yes, the Youtube video picture is actually a playable video! And its not just any video, it’s a complete Charlie Chaplin-like mini movie – a fitting tribute to Charlie Chaplin by Google.

So what’s so special with April 16 and Google Doodle about Charlie Chaplin? Why that’s the date of Charlie Chaplin’s birthday!

Charlie Chaplin, Sir Charlie Spencer “Charlie” Chaplin to be exact, is an English comic character and director best known for his silent movies. In fact, whenever “silent movie” is uttered, I’m sure people will quickly associate it with Charlie Chaplin.

Charlie Chaplin’s lasting legacy (aside from the pie throwing antics, and moustache) is his “tramp” character (tramp is a homeless person traveling from city to city, living by doing odd jobs or begging). At one point, Charlie entered into a Charlie Chaplin look-a-like contest and ended up in third place! Talk about quirky circumstance.

You can check out Google’s very own Youtube video of Charlie Chaplin below. Google made a very good Charlie Chaplin tribute video here in my opinion. Enjoy!
