And who said only movie makers get blockbuster profit?
Activision Blizzard, the maker of popular video game Call of Duty:Modern Warfare 3 should have good reasons to celebrate this December.
16 days after its official release on November 8, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 reached a sales record of $1 billion. It even beat James Cameron ’s 2009 3D film “Avatar“, which took 17 days to reach the billion mark.
And who wouldn’t love Modern Warfare 3? Personally, I’ve played the original Modern Warfare and I know it would be a hit.
“Call of Duty has become that rare entertainment franchise that transcends its own genre” said Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision Publishing. “Core gamers love it, as our stellar reviews show. But every year, new people are drawn into Call of Duty.”
Hardcore Battlefield-gamers may want to disagree, but 2012 might just be Activision’s lucky year. Check out a quick gameplay footage of Modern Warfare 3 below.
