Now this is a wake-up call for me; as a law student, this article in Yahoo! caught my eye instantly.

According to a Yahoo! article, Dan Balsam hates spam so much, that he quit his job, made a site about how he hates spam (www.danhatespam.com) and entered law school with the a single goal in his mind – to sue those spammers spamming the internet.

Now that’s a man who means serious business.

Dan is a marketer by profession, but because of the copious amount spams he received in his e-mail, he finally decided to be a lawyer to get it straight wit the spammers. The rest was history, plus more.

According to the Yahoo! article;

Enraged, he launched a Web site called Danhatesspam.com, quit a career in marketing to go to law school and is making a decent living suing companies who flood his e-mail inboxes with offers of cheap drugs, free sex and unbelievable vacations.

“I feel like I’m doing a little bit of good cleaning up the Internet,” Balsam said.

From San Francisco Superior Court small claims court to the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, Balsam, based in San Francisco, has filed many lawsuits, including dozens before he graduated law school in 2008, against e-mail marketers he says violate anti-spamming laws.

His many victories are mere rain drops in the ocean considering that Cisco Systems Inc. estimates that there are 200 billion spam messages circulating a day, accounting for 90 percent of all e-mail.

Balsam also sued Tagged.com, which was accused by Time magazine as the “world’s annoying website“. Now personally, I had an account with Tagged.com, and I never thought that it was sued for spamming (although I will have to agree that Tagged.com is certainly spammy).

Balsam definitely made a new horizon in the legal profession because of his zeal in going after spammers. I really admire his initial “drive” in going into law school – suing spammers. That drive will be really useful to me too. Hmm, how about if I aspire to be a “Spam lawyer” too eh?

Pancit Canton can also be eaten with various vegetables like carrots, potatoes, cabbage and the like, and you can make it a heavy meal by cooking it with minced pork, sausages, or chicken. What is an “unhealthy blog“? Personally, my definition of an “unhealthy blog” is this blog. Yes, this blog that you are reading right now.

(Long silence).

What? Why did I say that my blog itself is an unhealthy blog? Well you can find that for yourself. Just take a quick peek of my whole blog and you’ll find the answer.

First off, my blog is not publishing that many blog posts as compared to last year. Well, on the contrary, this blog didn’t publish that much blogposts last year either.

The reason? The blogger here still has a “life” to live outside the blogging world. He still eats, socializes and of course, study (although I already graduated from college ). And because of that, this blog have been left to dust in the blogosphere.

Second, the overall design of this blog is not yet that complete, if not “SEO-optimized”. There are no footer links below the blog for search engine optimization, and some pages are still blank, like the Blogroll. Although I can do that by just copy-pasting from my previous blog, it will eat a large chunk of my time and at this point in time, I still have a lot of academic deadlines to catch.

Oddly, whenever I post something here in my blog, there are still a lot of people who reads it. The last time I checked my feeds, there are a number of readers who checked their e-mails and opened my blog feeds to them. It’s a good thing that there are people out there who reads this blog, although majority of my posts here are not that interesting. And to add to that, I now realized that those “subscribers” right there in the right are REAL PEOPLE, haha.

But of course, if I have the spare time, I will still update this blog’s content as well as its design. In a blog, everyone knows that “content is king“, and that a blog, in order to survive in the blogosphere, must be constantly updated with interesting blog posts.

God willing I’ll complete all the pages/ features of this blog by sembreak.

There was a quite a change here in my blog. Aside from the change in template color and the reformatting of all my previous blog posts (which I know is a bad move, SEO-speaking ), I also migrated to a new web host (now if you do not know what a web host or web hosting is, then please google it ). My old hosting was Dreamhost by the way.

Migrating is not that easy; aside from the fact that you will have to start literally from scratch (except if you opted to transferring your old blog files to your new blog), you will have to also consider the Web host you are to migrate to.

In my search of a new web host, I found Vertito Hosting solutions. Read below my review of Vertito Hosting solutions.

I will be as impartial as possible here in my review. I’ll review Vertito Hosting solutions based on 4 categories;  Pricing, Ease of Use, Uptime, Support. Ok, here we go!

Pricing

This one’s definitely the category that got me in Vertito Hosting solutions. Webhosting at Vertito starts at $1 a month (Php50) with 1 Gig disk space and 10 Gig monthly bandwidth.

Personally, I took their Silver plan (3 Gig disk space and 30 Gig monthly bandwidth) which cost me $20 for 1 year (roughly Php1,000 a year). Together with my domain with them (which costs 500 Php), I am paying them Php1500 yearly.

For me that’s a big discount as compared to other Webhosting out there. As far as I am concerned, there aren’t any Webhosting out there that offers $1 a month for their hosting services. The lowest I think is $3.45 a month (roughly Php172  a month) at Justhost.com. So compute that for a year and you get $41.40 (roughly Php2,070 a year).

Which would you choose then? Php1,500 or Php 2,070?

What’s more, you can pay them online through Paypal, or through bank (in my case through, BDO).

Ease of Use.

Definitely, anyone who have been into any webhosting will not get lost using Vertito’s web panel. Vertito uses Cpanel by the way. Installing the correct script for your needs is easy with a click of a button through Fantastico scripts.

Uptime.

So far, my blog hasn’t experienced any downtime (yet). According to my Cpanel, I have only consumed around 5% (1 Gig) of my total monthly bandwidth of 30 Gig. I do notice quite a slowdown in load time with my blog as compared to my old blog hosted over at Dreamhost. But overall, the slow load time is bearable.

Support.

As with the support aspect, I would have to say that their support team is fast and very responsive. There was a time when I asked them something regarding an error in my Blog (which was caused by a wrong install). They responded immediately within 20 or 30 minutes. And because their time table is similar with me (because Vertito Hosting is also Philippine-based), response time is never a problem.

Overall, I don’t have anything bad to say about Vertito hosting. Vertito passed all my criteria for a viable webhost – attractive webhosting features and value for money. I totally recommend Vertito web hosting Solutions for your hosting needs.

Well this is it, CarloBlogg Online 3.0 is now online, but now under a new webhost. (Vertito Webhosting).

If you will notice, a lot has changed here, aside of course from the change in blog template (well, color that is ).You will notice also that my “new” blog is devoid of old posts from my old website. Well, in order to get away with the hassle of uploading all my old files to my new webhost, I decided to start from scratch and type new entries here in my “new” blog.

You can say that this is a way for me to start with blogging “slowly but surely”.

If you have stumbled here in my blog looking for something, or had landed here from the search engine, bad news is, the information/ keywords you might be looking for are already gone/ deleted. ( I did, however, successfully downloaded all my old files here in my computer , just got tired uploading all of it in my new host ).
