Do you have any idea what a geek is? Of course you do. Geeks are those type of people that are somewhat “obsessed” with something any other people wouldn’t bother about in the first place. Geeks are one of the stereotypes of our society, and unfortunately, they are considered somewhat at the “end” of the food-chain.

And to add to that, Geeks are those type of people that are prone to “predators” – the jocks, varsity player, and the rock star guy.

But this time around, geeks are on the top – they may even be the ones who created/ manufactured your computer you’re currently working on right now.

So what is a Geek anyway? According to wikipedia;

“The word geek is a slang term, noting individuals as “One who is perceived to be overly obsessed with one or more things including those of intellectuality, electronics, etc.”

It may be considered that being a labeled as a geek is a “loser” thing. But recently, a lot of people have been embracing” geekiness” (is there such a word?) and converting it to “coolness” (here I go again ).

Consider Steph of Stephthegeek.com. Well, she is a  alright, but you have to admit that she takes away the “loser look” of a geek in her own stylish way.

And of course, Bill Gates and Steve Jobs are geeks way back during their childhood – and yet, they are considered as the “cool guys”. C’mon, creating two remarkable computer companies/ OS that is used virtually by everyone around the world? That is cool alright.

Campbell Soup Co. is recalling their Spaghettios products because it is alleged that some of it contained undercooked meatballs, due to a cooker malfunction in a Texas plant.

They are recalling Spaghettios products as far as those produced in 2008 just to be sure for they didn’t know when the cooker malfunction started.

The following are the Spaghettios products that are to be recalled:

SpaghettiOs with Meatballs, SpaghettiOs A to Z with Meatballs, and SpaghettiOs Fun Shapes with Meatballs (Cars).

These Spaghettios products have “EST 4K” and a “Use date between June 2010 December 2011″ printed on the bottom of the can.

And of course, everybody knows the Undertaker.

There’s a buzz online that a lot of people are wondering what happened to the “deadman” Undertaker. I for myself are pretty curios too. And most of them also thinks that the Undertaker is already dead. Whoa!

So what happened to WWE’s Undertaker? Where is he now?

Well, according to Yahoo.com (http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100604173135AAk8SXZ), the Undertaker is definitely NOT dead. He recently got injured in his match against Rey Myterio and will be off a couple of months.

Aaah. So that explains it.

Now it seems like the online buzz about the Undertaker was kind of “over board”.

Besides, you can’t easily “kill” someone’s who is called the “Dead Man”. haha!

Now, I’ve been told by my Filipino literature back in college that a language is considered to be a “living language” when it is constantly evolving. Just take a look at the Latin language; it has stopped evolving hundreds of years ago and is now considered as a “dead language”.

Enter the “Jejemons“. They have been in the news this past few weeks because of their allegedly “horrendous“  acts towards our national language – Filipino. Chances are, you have already read one of their nearly-unreadable sentences in the internet and/or in your text messages.

So what’s with these Jejemons anyway?

I think I will not delve in deeper on the “what are Jejemons ?” topic. straightforward, Jejemon is defined by Urbandictionary.com as one ;

who has managed to subvert the English language to the point of incomprehensibility and online lynch squads.

But of course, Jejemons are not limited on the English language. As I have stated, Jejemons are also wrecking havoc in the Filipino language. Here’s an example of a filipino sentence murdered through a Jejemon sentence;

“3ow ph0w, mUsZtAh nA?” – Hello po, kamusta na?

See? Here’s another one, a Jejemon-induced english sentence;

“i wuD LLyK tO knOw moR3 bOut u. crE 2 t3ll mE yur N@me? jejejejeje!”

The sentence above, when translated into readable english is ;

“I would like to know more about you, care to tell me your name? Hehehehe!”

Pretty confusing isn’t it? A lot of people are hating these Jejemons that they went as far as making websites and Facebook pages just to “condemn” these Jejemons.

Personally, I am awe-struck with these Jejemons. I’ll make a new post regarding my reaction toward this “Jejemon phenomena“. (This post has become pretty long – and I am only at the “introduction” part of the Jejemon topic!)

When I first heard about Lady Gaga and her amputated leg, I thought that this was another April Fool’s joke. But wait a minute, April 1 has long gone, right? This may not be a joke. And eerily, it is not (as far as i know of that is).

Lady Gaga recently amputated one of her legs (her left leg right below her knee) to pioneer a new fashion look.

Lady Gaga amputated her leg in order for her to look “different”. Well I think she did accomplish her objective alright. According to Lady Gaga,

“This is the latest fashion I’m starting and you can see that I’m a world leader when it comes to wacky and weird shit huh. Next month after I recover from the surgery I hope to have the other leg amputated or maybe my arm, hmm…which one should I amputate next?” Lady GaGa said on MTV yesterday whilst hopping around the studio.

Personally, this is something disturbing. Well, for some Lady Gaga hardcore fans this is a plus, but for “ordinary” people like me, this is surely absurd! A killer tornado hits Mississippi in the United States, more specifically in Yazoo city. The calamity happened this Sunday. The killer tornado devastated the local neighborhood, destroying and twisted homes and killed 10 people including 3 children.

Governor Haley Barbour said, as stated in Yahoo.com, that there was “utter obliteration among the picturesque hills rising from the flat Mississippi Delta.

Barbour estimated at least 1000 houses in Yazoo County alone had severe damage, but also stated that his estimate may rise later.

A tornado can seriously damage ones property, as what happened to Josiah Moton, 31, where he and his girlfriend, Morgan Hayden, 27 , lost their house leaving behind only their bathroom. According to them,

Josiah Moton, 31, and his girlfriend, Morgan Hayden, 27, were in their Yazoo County home when the sky darkened Saturday and Moton went out to try to move his vehicle to a safer spot.

“The wind was coming so strong it tried to tote me away,” Moton said.

He ran back inside and they both huddled in a bathtub. Neither one had even a cut. But now they are homeless — the bathroom was the only room not destroyed, the rest of the house reduced to rubble.

“Someone else’s kitchen sink is where our kitchen used to be,” Hayden said.

Archie comics have been around for years. The Archie comics, founded way back in 1939 (yup, it started on the year World War II started! ), is still being produced and published today, still under the same name, Archie.

And now, to what it seems like an adjustment to current norms, the Archie world is presenting its first openly gay character – Kevin Keller.

Adding to the mix of Archie characters like Veronica, Jughead, and of course, Archie, is Kevin Keller, the first openly gay character in the Archie world.

According to Jon Goldwater of Archie Comics in a post in the Washington Post,

“The introduction of Kevin is just about keeping the world of Archie Comics current and inclusive. Archie’s hometown of Riverdale has always been a safe world for everyone. Yes, I am not joking with that question, what is a Sheep-Pig? Does it even exist?

From the word itself, it looks like that this animal is a crossbreed between a Sheep and Pig. Well, yes and no. Sheep-Pig is a rare breed of pig. They are characterized with similar body structure of a pig, but the only difference with other breeds of pigs is that Sheep-Pigs are covered with wool, similar as to those of sheeps!

Sheep-Pigs were originally bred in Austria and Hungary. They are now considered as an endangered species. Three of these species were reintroduced in Tropical Wings Zoo in Essex, United Kingdom.

“We’ve got them here as part of a breeding programme to make sure this fascinating breed does not become extinct.”

“4 20” is more than a number; “4 20” actually means something. Frankly speaking, at first glance of the numbers “4 20” , one cannot really decipher its meaning.

So what does “4 20″ means?

According to the Urban Dictionary, “4 20″ is a slang word for marijuana. Weird eh? You really can’t decipher the word marijuana from “4 20″ itself.

According to Gather.com (health.gather.com);

…the term 420 originated at San Rafael High School in the San Francisco Bay Area. Marijuana-smoking students at the school, who called themselves “Waldos,” would use the term 420 as a code word to tell their fellow stoner Waldos what was up.

And because today is April 20 (which also correspond to “4 20“), a lot of people are declaring it as the National Weed Day. Oh c’mon, seriously? I think I will have to disagree with this one.

April 19 is a very memorable day for Oklahoma residents, most especially back in April 19, 1995. And when I say “memorable”, its memorable in a saddening way.

April 19, 1995 is the date of one of the most destructive act of terrorism until the the September 11, 2001 twin towers attack. A truck full of explosives was blown up in front of the Alfred Murrah Federal building. It caused the death of 168 lives, and more than 680 people injured.

The attack was done by Timothy McVeigh with his co-conspirator Terry Nichols. Timothy McVeigh was the one that detonated the explosive-full truck. Nichols assisted in the bomb preparation.

The wrongdoers of this attack were motivated by hatred of the federal government handling of the Waco and Ruby siege incident in 1993 and 1992 respectively.

Today, a memorial stands in Oklahoma city remembering this sad incident – The Oklahoma City National Memorial.

Every year, there is a marathon held that allows runners to sponsor a victim of the bombing. There is also the tradition 168 seconds of silence – one second for each person who was killed as a result of the blast. It also includes the reading of the names of the victims by children to symbolize the future of Oklahoma city.
